PROJECTSIntroduction [Biosketch]
- Dr. Amritesh Kumar is a distinguished academic and researcher in the field of power electronics. He completed his Ph.D. from Delhi Technological University (DTU) in 2017 for his significant contributions to the field. Since June 2018, he has been serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Silchar. Dr. Kumar has been recognized with several prestigious honors, including the VEL TECH Merit Scholarship for academic excellence at BITS Pilani, the Commendable Research Award from DTU in 2017, and the POSOCO Power System Award (PPSA-2018) in the Doctoral category. He is a Senior Member of IEEE and has been serving as Secretary of the IEEE Industry Applications Society (IAS) Joint Chapter for the Silchar Sub-Section and Kolkata Section since 2023. With over 70 research publications in reputed SCI journals, IEEE Transactions, and international conferences, Dr. Kumar has made substantial contributions to the advancement of power electronics. He has successfully supervised five Ph.D. scholars and continues to mentor several others. Dr. Kumar has served as Principal Investigator (PI) and Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI) on several significant government-funded research projects. In addition to his research and academic roles, Dr. Kumar holds an Indian patent for a “Dual Active Bridge-Based Fast Charging System for Electric Vehicles.” Dr. Kumar has been invited as a resource person in more than 25 National and International events, including conferences, seminars, workshops, and Faculty Development Programs (FDPs), where he has delivered expert talks and training sessions on cutting-edge topics in power electronics, renewable energy systems, and electric mobility. He currently leads the APEC Lab at NIT Silchar as its In-Charge, where he continues to advance innovation in power electronics and sustainable energy technologies.
